History Timeline

On December 18, 2018, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia. Zijin Mining Group acquired 63% of RTB’s shares through a capital increase of US$350 million. The company was officially renamed ZIJIN BOR COPPER DOO.

In January 2019, the company changed its name to SERBIA ZIJIN BOR COPPER DOO. In June 2019, thanks to tremendous efforts across the company, losses were successfully turned into profits.

In May 2020, the NC mine, previously in a state of “shock” before Zijin’s acquisition, resumed production two months ahead of schedule. All four mines operated normally. On September 30, the OA system entered trial operation with Chinese, Serbian, and English versions, improving office automation and reducing administrative costs.

On July 25, construction of the Fugitive Gas Desulfurization system was completed one month ahead of schedule. This effectively resolved the historic air pollution caused by smelter tail gas, significantly improving Bor’s air quality.

In April 2022, the TIR smelter temporarily halted production to carry out technical upgrades. On December 16, Serbia Zijin Copper won the 2022 Outstanding Business Achievement Award from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the only Chinese company among 21 winners.

In September, the smelter’s technical transformation project passed inspection, met trial production conditions, and was filed with Serbia’s Ministry of Construction. The project officially entered trial operation in accordance with regulations and laws.
